Each "stage" has a gpx file on the page. It was icy and treacherous at the edge where the glacier meets rock. Kahtoolas were worth carrying six days just for that. I am really looking forward to this trip and hoping to get good weather at the end of August, especially on the day of crossing the Schillijoch of which I am a bit afraid :) (80 meters down along ladders with exposure underneath, as I heard) :) Huts and other places for overnight stay are booked so I only have to train and stay in good health before :) Ewahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06324795997267560584noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9085073287622660650.post-20395171337212002182020-02-24T01:33:59.719-08:002020-02-24T01:33:59.719-08:00I'm glad this is helpful to you! It's a gr...I'm glad this is helpful to you! It's a great journey. Most European huts have at least one power point for guests to use. The higher the hut, the more remote, the more likely they are running on solar and generator. That means they might only allow charging during daylight/sunlight. And you could be competing with other hikers/climbers for charging. I would carry a powerbank, for sure, and recharge everything I could every time I had the opportunity. Just to be safe. In terms of how much is running, that depends on one's fitness and weight of the pack, to start. It's really hard to run with 8kg on your back, so practice to find out how it changes your speed and running form. It's also at high altitude, so if you're not acclimatised, it will affect you a lot, as it did for the Americans I saw early on. The "flat" sections are sometimes narrow or bouldery. I'm pretty darn strong, and my average pace was about 13min/k. I don't stop my watch if I take a sandwich break, as there's no point. So..."running" is relative :) I moved much faster than hikers, but there's lots of power hiking. Lots. It's a haute route. My questions are: can you charge gps, phone or powerbank in the huts or there are restrictions/fees? How much of the route (more or less) you were able to run and not power hike or hike?
